Basic Homemade Granola

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 25 minutes

Total time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4 cups of granola

I like eating a bit of granola with greek yogurt every once in a while. Homemade is my favorite because it's "clean" and not as sweet as store bought granola. Additionally, unlike everyone else, I don't love how chunky some granolas are so I can control the clumps myself! Here's my go-to granola recipe.

Pros: easy and uninvolved

Cons: easily becomes a tasty snack

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of neutral oil

  • 1/4 cup of honey

  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 2 cups of old fashioned oats

  • 1/2 cup of walnuts (roughly chopped)

  • 1/2 cup of raisins (I used golden raisins)

  • 1/2 cup of cranberries

  • 1/4 cup flax seeds (optional)

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, combine your oil, honey, salt, and cinnamon.

  3. When done, add in your oats, walnuts, and flax seed. Mix until everything is well coated.

  4. Put your sheet into the oven and bake for 25 minutes. Halfway through, take your sheet out to turn your granola.

  5. When everything is golden brown, take your sheet out of the oven. Add in your dried fruit and mix. At this point, if you want your granola clumpy, lightly press the granola down into the baking sheet with a spatula. If not, leave as is.

  6. Let completely cool before breaking the granola! Eat as a snack or with yogurt or cereal!
